Long Beach Lion awarded for notable contributions

Long Beach Lions Club member Alan Schwartz, the owner of Laurel Cleaners on West Park Avenue who collected and cleaned 1,000 winter coats, was awarded the Robert J. Uplinger Award for Outstanding Contributions to Lionism, at a Lions District Award Dinner at the Woodbury Country Club on May 6. The Lions Club of Long Beach donated these coats to the Outreach Community Center at St. Mary's Parish, Martin Luther King Jr. Center and The Inn, all in Long Beach, and Sacred Heart Church in Island Park.
