Long Beach man charged in Atlantic Beach burglary

A Long Beach man was charged with a residential burglary on Tuesday afternoon in Atlantic Beach.

According to Nassau County Police, Walter Fryer, 35, of Long Beach, unlawfully entered an Atlantic Beach home on Oct. 25.  The owner, a 67-year-old female, returned home and found Fryer in the house.

Police said Fryer attempted to hold the victim in the house, but she managed to flee outside to her car and contact police.

Responding officers found Fryer inside the home, where he was arrested. No injuries were reported.

Fryer was charged with second-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
