Parking permits on sale
The City of Long Beach City Clerk’s office is now selling 2009 resident parking permits, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 28 at City Hall. The permits can be used at any municipal lot throughout the city, including two newly-acquired lots in the East End. The 2009 permits are only good through end of year. Parking permits cost $10 per vehicle/per year, and payment may be made by credit card (MasterCard or Visa), money order or check. For information, call city hall at 431-1000.

Lions launch Leo Club
The Long Beach Lions Clubs have been meeting with potential members of its Leo Club, the organization’s youth division. Club members will be involved in helping the blind and serving our community. Candidates forum
The League of Women Voters is hosting a forum for the six candidates running for city council at 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Long Beach Library.

Take a walk on the civic side
The Walks Association, a civic group of the Walks neighborhood in Long Beach, will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Cass Center at St. Ignatius Church, at 721 W. Broadway.
