Memorial Day parade

The City of Long Beach will pay tribute to our veterans at the annual Memorial Day Parade on May 31. This year Iraq and Afghanistan veteran SSG Alfred Palmieri will lead the parade as the grand marshal, and City Manager Charles Theofan will act as Master of Ceremonies. The parade begins at Ohio Avenue and West Beech Street at 9:30 a.m. and ends at the reviewing stand on West Park Avenue outside City Hall. Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Jewish War Veterans and AMVETS will be joined by city, county and state officials.

Torah celebration

The BACH Jewish Center welcomes it’s new Torah scroll from Israel. Starting at 9 a.m. on May 16, the scroll will be led in a parade-style procession from the new Allegria Hotel, at 80 W. Broadway, to the holy Ark at the BACH, at 210 Edwards Blvd. For more information call 897-2473.

Artists, photographers and musicians wanted
