Long Beach schools budget is approved

The Long Beach Public Schools 2023-24 budget was approved Tuesday night. It passed by a vote of 1,258-324.

The $151.6 million budget has a tax levy increase of 1.5 percent. The district’s 2023-24 budget is smaller than the current year’s $151.9 million in spending.

School board candidates Nora Bellsey and incumbent Dennis Ryan were also elected and re-elected as trustees. They will both serve three-year terms starting July 1.
