Long Beach train service restored

The Long Island Rail Road has fully restored Long Beach Branch operations after service was suspended in both directions between Lynbrook and Long Beach. An unauthorized vehicle on the tracks was hit by a non-passenger train in East Rockaway on Monday.

According to the LIRR, emergency responders rushed to the scene after an unauthorized vehicle was hit by a non-passenger train on the tracks in East Rockaway on Monday.

The 4:40 p.m. train from Penn Station to Long Beach was canceled due to a service suspension between Lynbrook and Long Beach after the unauthorized vehicle was struck by a train traveling west of Centre Avenue in East Rockaway. Full service was restored at 5:22 p.m. on Monday. The 5:14 p.m. train from Long Beach to Penn Station was to be the first westbound train to run after the collision.

Customers were initially urged to transfer at Rockville Centre to the NICE N15 bus, which operates to Oceanside, Island Park and Long Beach. NICE is cross-honoring on the N15 bus from Rockville Centre for Long Beach-bound customers. However, the NICE N15 Bus will stop cross-honoring for LIRR customers at 6 p.m.
