Loop Parkway reopens after lane closures

The northbound side of the Loop Parkway reopened Monday afternoon after emergency repairs forced the closure of all two lanes to traffic.

All northbound lanes of the parkway, between the start of the Loop entrance at Lido Boulevard and the Meadowbrook State Parkway, were closed just before noon on Monday.

A spokesman for the state Department of Transportation’s regional office said that the closures were made while crews removed a traffic sign that was damaged by a vehicular collision as a precaution due to high winds.

“The Loop Parkway has reopened,” a spokesman said in a statement. “This morning, a section of the road was closed near Lido Beach in Nassau County while crews removed a damaged exit sign. A portable variable message sign will remain in place until a new exit sign is installed."
