MDA thanks L.B. pro firefighters

Posted

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and the children and adults they serve, would like to thank the Long Beach Professional Firefighters for their tireless efforts this summer in collecting a record breaking $20,639.

It is through the generosity of the people of Long Beach and the dedication of these firefighters that MDA is able to continue ongoing programs of patient care and research. Through worldwide research, comprehensive medical services, and far-reaching professional education, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, with the generous help of friends like the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 287, continues to make a difference to the families we serve in your local community.

The International Association of Fire Fighters represents the interests of professional firefighters across North America. Since 1954, IAFF members throughout the country have resolved to commit to defeating muscular dystrophy until a cure is found.

This year, Local 287 Long Beach Professional Firefighters held two softball tournaments to benefit MDA and also took to the streets of Long Beach to “Fill the Boot.” The local continues to find new and innovative ways to raise funds for MDA each year.

Lt. Joseph Robson presented a check on behalf of his department on the MDA Labor Day Telethon aired on WWOR-My9 on Sept. 4.
