The Tommy Brull Foundation, a Rockville Centre-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising money to benefit people with physical, mental, and emotional challenges in Nassau and Suffolk counties, is thrilled to present the “Shine a Light Music Festival,” on Aug. 10, featuring performances from the band Deer Tick, Wormburner and Bad Boy Bench.

The event will be held at Mulcahy’s Pub and Music Hall in Wantagh at 7 p.m. The Tommy Brull Foundation was launched in 2008 and is dedicated to honoring the life of Rockville Centre resident and former Camp ANCHOR counselor Tommy Brull.

The Camp ANCHOR building fund, an organization close to the hearts of the Foundation, will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the music festival, in loving memory of Jamie Malone, Paige Malone and Michael Mulhall, Camp Anchor counselors who were tragically killed in a car accident on the Meadowbrook Parkway in 2010.

Since its inception, the Tommy Brull Foundation has raised close to $100,000 for multiple charities, including Camp ANCHOR’s building fund, and hopes to have a part of the building dedicated in Tommy’s name. They have raised money for multiple individuals and organizations in Long Island, including Jim Lasko, Kevin McDermott, Billy's Buddies, and The Young Autism Program.

While the Tommy Brull foundation sponsors several fundraising events throughout the year, the upcoming Shine a Light event is the first concert undertaken by the organization.

“Part of the mission of the foundation was to get people together to remember Tommy in a way that reflected the kind of person he was,” said Martin Brull, Tommy’s brother and festival organizer. “He and I always attended concerts and shared a love of music. My dream has been to do a benefit concert featuring bands Tommy would have enjoyed, and have it grow year after year.”
