Holiday Fun
Smashing Pumpkins Drop
It’s time throw a few pumpkins! Avoid the Black Friday shopping frenzy and visit Cradle of Aviation Museum for its annual pumpkin drop. The kids can drop pumpkins from the museum’s upper floor balcony and watch as gravity takes over and the pumpkins become a pile of pulp (or mush) three floors below. It’s a great way to demonstrate the effects of gravity or simply use it as an opportunity to let out a little frustration. Either way it’s a lot of fun for the whole family. You can bring your own pumpkin or toss one of the museum’s pumpkins. After the drop, explore the museum’s eight galleries, which take you through on a trip through over 100 years of air and space history, from kites and balloons to man’s first steps on the moon.
Friday, Nov. 23, smashing pumpkin drop, 12-3 p.m. Cradle of Aviation Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 572-4111 or www.cradleofaviation.org.

Home for the Holidays…
Brooklyn’s Steve Solomon, the star and creator of “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy,” brings his comic touch to the season in his new one-man show to ring in the holidays. When everyone arrives home to celebrate the holidays, Steve is thrown together with all his dysfunctional family members in a riotous celebration of the holiday season. The uproarious show examines this time of peace, joy, and remembering why you left home in the first place.
Saturday, Nov. 24, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 25, 3 p.m. $39 and $49. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 678-5000 ext. 7715 or www.madisontheatreny.org.
