Unsound surf shop, at 359 E. Park Ave., will host its 6th annual surf art show and auction on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The rain date is scheduled for June 21, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Each year, the event features some of the best artists and photographers from New York who display their work at the store. This year’s event will also include a new feature — a vintage surfboard show.

Unsound co-owner Mike Nelson said that support for the event has grown over the past six years, and added that there’s always a good turnout for the show at the shop.

“It’s been really good,” he said. “Everyone has been super pumped about it, and even people who aren’t customers have been really into it. We’re basically trying to change it up a little bit this year, and the vintage surfboard aspect fits in well.”

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tommy Brull Foundation, a Rockville Centre-based nonprofit organization focused on improving the lives of those with physical, mental and emotional challenges on Long Island, and the Long Beach Christmas Angel, a local non-profit charity that helps local families in financial crisis in the Long Beach school district and victims of Hurricane Sandy.

“We’ve done a lot of charity events over the years for various organizations and with them, we know that when we raise any money, 100 percent of it goes to someone who needs it — and it’s all local, too,” Nelson said.

The event will also feature live performances by Groundswell and The Shipwrecks. For more information, visit the 2015 Unsound Surf Art Auction and Vintage Surfboard Show event page on Facebook or www.unsoundsurf.com.
