Long Beach Film Festival

On Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4 and 5, the Long Beach International Film Festival continues on the beach and boardwalk at National Boulevard. The festival will feature an international slate of more than 40 films, including feature-length narratives, documentaries, short and animated movies for all ages along with a diverse lineup of local music acts. More than 50 vendors have committed to the LBIFF’s Taste On The Beach event on Aug. 5, where they will offer wine, spirits and food to attendees.

If you haven’t already…see a movie on the beach!

Beachgoers can see “Zootopia” on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Neptune Boulevard beach at 7:45 p.m. The West End Neighbors Civic Association, Westholme Civic Association, North East Bay and Canals Civic Association, and Eastholme Civic Association are hosting Movie Nights on the Beach events this year. All events will take place on Saturdays through Sept. 17 (except Sept. 10). For more information, visit the Herald for dates, times, movie listings and locations throughout the season, or visit the civics’ Facebook pages.

City to share Comprehensive Plan at open house

On Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library, the city will be holding an open house to present its Comprehensive Plan and Local Waterfront Revitilization Program. What will Long Beach look like in 5 years? 30 years? The community's input has been crucial in guiding the city through these processes.
