Thanks to their teenage daughters, Lori and Eli Maslavi are totally in synch with what’s hot for the teens of today. In fact, Nicole, now 15, and Jaclyn, who is 17, were the impetus behind the opening of Cover Girl Clothing, back in March 2007.

Eli Maslavi had years of experience in the ladies’ clothing and shoe industries. With two fashion-conscious teens attending HAFTR in Cedarhurst, he and his wife were traveling all over to purchase the clothing they chose to wear. When the girls suggested they open a clothing store for teens in town, it seemed like a perfect idea.

Targeting teens and young women, Cover Girl Clothing carries casual, stylish apparel in mostly junior sizes. Some larger misses sizes are included as well. The boutique is stocked with jeans, slacks, tops of all varieties, shirts, skirts and dresses. Clothing is fashionable, featuring the latest items found in the market. Accessories like scarves, belts and costume jewelry are also offered. Among the many clothing labels are American Apparel, Havana, Machine Jeans, and Kiki Riki.

Bright and airy, the decor at Cover Girl Clothing makes it a pleasure for the customers to shop. Displays of clothing, both on racks and tables, are easily viewed and accessible. There are two ample fitting rooms and a restroom in the rear. Pricing is kept competitive and affordable. Lori Maslavi, who boasts a flair for fashion, can put together the ideal ensemble. She helps customers with suggestions and ideas, making sure that nobody makes a purchase that doesn’t look great and fit perfectly.

What’s the fashionable look for teenage girls this year? “Plaid shirts are very much in demand,” Mr. Maslavi said. “Those or layered sweat shirts worn with jeans or leggings are big. As far as colors, black and white seem to be quite popular.”

Business hours at Cover Girl Clothing are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
