ERHS Junior Honor Society visits Liberty Science Center

Posted

Students from East Rockaway’s Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society attended Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ, recently. The focus of their visit was to provide students with the opportunity to view live neurosurgery from a distant learning center.

Students were able to communicate with a neurosurgeon performing live brain surgery at a nearby hospital via distant learning technology. This was unlike anything the students could have experienced in a traditional classroom. The advisors’ goals were to expose young students to the medical field — especially those who are math and science orientated — in hopes that they will pursue a career in medicine.
