A time capsule was lowered into the ground on Saturday, April 21 — the contents of which are not to be revealed until 2062.

Village and school officials and students attended the ceremony, held on the grounds of the Lynbrook Village Hall, from the three district elementary schools.

Principals Barbara Moore (Marion Street), Lucille McAssey (Waverly Park) and Alison Puliatte (West End)

Introduced the children and read the “Top Ten Reasons They Love Lynbrook.” Waverly Park students recited two poems about the future, and West End vocalists performed “Lynbrook USA.” Dr. Barbarino, Superintendent of Schools addressed the children.

Members of the Village Grounds Department lowered the capsule into the ground as Mayor Bill Hendrick covered the capsule with the first shovel of earth — using a gold shovel. One child from each school then presented a plaque that will mark the location of the time capsule.
