Historical society of East Rockaway and Lynbrook plan a retrospective

Interested in learning about East Rockaway and Lynbrook’s early history?

The Historical Society of East Rockaway and Lynbrook (HSERL) is bringing its 3rd annual Historical Retrospective to the Lynbrook Library June 9 and 10, and June 14 througj 17. The programs and exhibits will highlight significant events, families and the earlier times of Lynbrook and East Rockaway.

The more than 10 exhibits will include scale models of the Haviland-Davison Grist Mill Museum and the Bristol and Mexico Monument, an opportunity to ‘turn the quern’, media displays of the oral histories recorded last year, photographs of “Then & Now” locations, and maps of the two villages during the early 1900’s (How many homes were on your street?)

Local fourth graders will contribute with an essay about a special event in their life in an exhibit entitled “Your Story is HiStory”. And there is much more; even bring your camera and have your picture taken as a historic figure.

Speakers will enlighten the audience with details of local history and the culture of Lynbrook and East Rockaway’s past.
