Lynbrook house fire, displaces homeowners, injures one firefighter

A half dozen fire departments responded to a house fire at 579 Scranton Ave. in Lynbrook not long after 2 a.m. on Feb. 20, officials said.

The firefighters, one of whom was hospitalized due to injuries from a fall, found the fire on the home’s third floor. Fire officials deemed the blaze accidental. The firefighter was treated and considered all right.

The Lynbrook, East Rockaway, Malverne, Rockville Centre, Valley Stream and Woodmere fire departments were on the scene. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced homeowner. She was able to return to the house and get some needed items.
