The sixth annual Patrick Xavier Owens’ Games were held at East Rockaway High School on Jan. 22. Organized Alan Owens, the games are in the memory his brother, Patrick, a brave young boy who died in 1997 at the age of five.
Since its inception in 2004, the PXO Games have raised over $50,000 for the Associated School for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS) that Patrick attended. All funds benefit ACDS directly and are used for supplies, such as computers, new technology and desks. Some of the money has even been used for rebuilding its new computer lab. The PXO Games were followed by a reception at the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside.
