A magical night of theater

To the Editor:

I would like to congratulate the members of the Lynbrook High School Drama Club for their spirited presentation of “Once on This Island.”

As both pit orchestra and performing arts director, it was such a pleasure for me to witness first hand the directors, cast, crew and pit orchestra working so well together for many weeks to bring this show to life. Directing, acting, vocals, music, dance numbers, staging, sets, sound and lights were all done with a level of enthusiasm and professionalism that should make those involved feel very proud.

I would like to give my special thanks to all the teachers who worked with our young thespians to bring this magical night of theater to life. Every one of you sets such a wonderful example for our students.

Finally, I extend my thanks to the many local businesses, family and friends who served as our loyal patrons of the arts. Your generous support is always greatly appreciated.

Thank you for a successful fair

To the Editor:

On behalf of the St. James United Methodist Church, we would like to thank the local merchants who so graciously donated to make our Harvest Fair the success that it was.

Special thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts and Angelina’s, The Fishery, Green Olive, Paul Anthony’s, Pearsall’s Station and Union Bagels. You made the day special!

Call her concerned

To the Editor:

Thank you for publishing Legislator Howard Kopel’s response to my letter in last week’s Herald (“Sewage plant one of his priorities”).

Kopel was concerned that I have rewritten history when he wrote, “Just a few weeks ago, Mrs. Ochtera was quoted in this very paper saying, ‘I think we’re not too far away from an award winning plant.’” I assume by a few weeks ago he was referring to my letter printed in February.
