Lynbrook: An evening of “local history alive” was presented at the Long Island American Water building in Lynbrook, giving area residents a glimpse of Lynbrook from long, long ago.
Thanks to a great deal of historical attentiveness, a grant from Legislator Francis X. Becker, the generosity of Bill Varley of Long Island American Water, the hard work of the East Rockaway Lynbrook Historical Society with Madeline Pearson as president, and the efforts of Mayor Bill Hendrick and the Lynbrook Centennial Committee, residents were treated to a wide array of old time photographs, videos and refreshments.
The collection of pictures was displayed in an area dedicated to the historical event by LIAW and included many from the Society, Art Mattson and Marty Hymes.
