Posted

The Lynbrook Little League hosted their ninth annual New York Mets Spirit Awards ceremony at Citi Field on May 27.

More than 1,500 Lynbrook Little League children, parents, residents of Lynbrook and business owners attended and witnessed the presentation of the Lynbrook Little League/New York Mets Spirit Awards.

This award recognizes those individuals, who have given of themselves in displaying exemplary services, support and/or achievements that have enhanced the lives of Lynbrook Little League children with a positive experience.

During pre-game ceremonies, those special honorees recognized down on the field behind home plate were Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, Town of Hempstead Senior Councilman Anthony Santino, Lynbrook Recreation Executive Assistant Patricia Ciampi, President/Owner of Skyline Cruises Peter Serro, Lynbrook Police Officer Sean Murphy and Lynbrook Fire Department Chief Edward Hynes.

The Lynbrook Fire Department’s Color Guard marched and performed in centerfield, during the singing of the National Anthem, and all of the Lynbrook Little League players and coaches lined the warning track in the outfield between the two foul poles.

It was a beautiful evening, which once again displayed Lynbrook Community Pride and the ongoing support of our children in Lynbrook Little League. To top off the wonderful event, the New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-2.

Lynbrook Little League is celebrating its 59th season as a chartered member of Little League International, providing boys and girl’s baseball and softball for the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.
