Newsweek, which has been ranking the top public high schools in America for more than ten years, has named Lynbrook High School one of the top 500 schools in America. LHS was 365th.

“It is always a joy to see Lynbrook High School being recognized, particularly for its quality education and impressive outcomes, said School Superintendent Dr. Santo Barbarino. “Such recognition speaks eloquently about the student and their families, the staff and programs that make for a very fine high school, one that brings so much pride to a supportive school community.”

Newsweek enlisted a panel of experts to determine the schools’ designation. According to Newsweek, they developed a judging system that would reflect a school’s success turning out college-ready (and life-ready) students. Each school’s score is comprised of six components: graduation rate, 25 percent; college matriculation rate, 25 percent; AP tests taken per graduate, 25 percent; average SAT/ACT scores, 10 percent; average AP/IB/AICE scores, 10 percent; and AP courses offered, 5 percent.
