Fog NCPD officer fatally shot near Belmont Park

A Nassau County police officer was shot on the Cross Island Parkway around 11 a.m. this morning. The unidentified officer was transported to North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident occurred near Jamaica Avenue in the vicinity of Belmont Park sources said. A second man was found shot near Hempstead Avenue and the Cross Island Parkway. It is believed the man was one of the suspects and that another suspect is still alive.
Following the shooting the Cross Island Parkway was closed in both directions at Jamaica Avenue.
