At the board meeting held on March 24, the Village of East Rockaway reviewed the cost of operating the village parking fields, and, according to its website, parking meter rates in the village will change from 25 cents per hour to 25 cents per half hour. After reviewing the cost of operating the village parking fields, and after no increase in parking meter fees in the past three years, the board intends to make the change.

In a letter to the Herald on April 1, Village Clerk Doris Piedemonte wrote that before enforcing the new meter fees, the board needs to wait for the confirmation of filing by the Department of State of a local law, which is scheduled for adoption at the April regular meeting on April 11 at Village Hall, 8 p.m.
