Lynbrook PTA holds 2010 Founder's Day celebration

At their 2010 Founders Day Celebration, the Lynbrook PTAs honored 16 special faculty, staff and community members who have made significant contributions as dedicated advocates for the children of Lynbrook Schools. The theme of this year’s celebration was “A World of Difference.”

The Central Council of PTA’s honored Dick Flynn with a Lifetime Membership award, in recognition of his 26 years of service to generations of children and residents as the Recreation Director for the Village of Lynbrook. Joseph Pallotta, the district director of Fine and Performing Arts, also received a lifetime membership from the council.

Other lifetime membership awards were bestowed upon PTA parent Dr. Esther Marks and South Middle School psychologist Dr. Shari Melman (Lynbrook SEPTA); PTA parent Joan Schaeffer and LHS guidance chairperson Laurie Mitchell (Lynbrook HS PTA); PTA parent Carol Chyriwski and teacher Roseanne Mitchell (Lynbrook North Middle School PTA); principal’s secretary Deborah Allen and teacher Robyn Bass (Lynbrook South Middle School PTA); science specialist Kerry Stewart and PTA parent Suzanne DiBenedetto (Marion Street PTA); principal’s secretary Margaret Marchell and school librarian Jacki Marino (Waverly Park PTA); art specialist Michael Christie and head custodian Robert Lovergine (West End PTA).

Founders Day commemorates the founding of the National Congress of Mothers, the precursor to the modern PTAs.
