Toys-r-them!

Every year, under the guidance of club advisors Joe Cangemi and Leslie Klein, the East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society organizes a school-wide toy drive. 

For the past couple of years, the amount of donated toys has increased, despite the hardships facing the economy. This year, the clu’sb treasurer wrote to Mattel and asked if they would donate toys. Two weeks later, the high school received four enormous boxes from the popular toy company! Toys were also donated by the junior-senior high school students, staff members, and from students in ALPSS, the Alternative Learning Program for Student Success. 

For the past several years, the toys have been donated to the Andrus Children Center in Yonkers, New York.
