The annual event honors uniformed service members and volunteers for outstanding services.

Residents known for displaying American flags on their properties every day throughout the year were also presented with certificates of recognition.

Along with the uniformed members, two teenagers, Harrison Baldus and Joseph Cerulli, were lauded for their selection for spots in the New York Boys State Program.

These young men, selected by local American Legion Post No. 44, will be given the opportunity to participate in this program, considered a lesson in civics and how a government is formed. The leadership training program also includes rigorous daily morning workouts with members of the  United States Marines Corps.
