Crime Watch: Burglary, criminal mischief and a gun

Burglary - business
According to police, Jerelin Pizza, located at 221 Hempstead Turnpike, was robbed of USC and personal checks sometimes between 6 p.m. on Friday, March 25, and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 27. Possibly point of entry was the front door.

Criminal mischief
Police reported that a woman was sleeping in her Madison Avenue house in West Hempstead at 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, when she was woken up by the sound of a crash and then heard a car alarm go off. She went outside to inspect her vehicle and noticed that her lawn statue was removed from her front stoop and thrown through the rear window of her vehicle.


Found property - gun
A police officer responded to a call around 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, for a gun found in the woods by Woodfield Road in Lakeview. Upon arrival, the officer found no complainant. The officer conducted a canvass and observed a bb gun in the woods next to a child swing set. The park manager said she had no knowledge of the gun and that no one had approached her.
