Lynbrook resident Francis X. Becker Jr., legislator for Nassau County’s 6th district, which includes Malverne, has announced his run for a congressional seat in the 4th district, currently held by Democrat Carolyn McCarthy.
“It’s an honor to be nominated by  [Joseph] Mondello and the Nassau County Republican Committee,” Becker said. “We need to establish the great principals that founded this county, and rededicate ourselves to God and our country so we can enhance and continue with American exceptionalism in this country.”
Becker was the first elected representative elected to the new 6th Legislative District and is currently serving his eighth consecutive term. In addition to Malverne, the 6th LD includes Lynbrook, North Lynbrook, most of Valley Stream and East Rockaway, south Rockville Centre and portions of N. Valley Stream and Oceanside.
A graduate of Lynbrook High School, Becker attended Nassau Community College and Hofstra University where he studied Business Finance. He is president of Becker & Associates Planning Services in Lynbrook and is a certified financial planner.
He and his wife, Clementine, live with their family in the home of his grandfather, former Congressman Frank J. Becker. They have three grown daughters.
“This was not something that I was thinking of,” Becker said of the nomination, “but it was always in my heart to do this ... I couldn’t refuse. My wife has been wanting me to do this all along, so I have her support as well — which is wonderful.”
