Letter to the editor: Thank you for your support

    Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears before age 3. It is a neurological disorder that affects communication and social interaction. Autism is unique to every child. This epidemic affects one in every 110 children born today. Hearing the words, “Your child has autism” is devastating to any parent.
    After our son was diagnosed with PDD-nos (an autism spectrum disorder), we decided to make many changes, including the foods we eat. I called our local butcher, Malverne Village Prime Meats, and spoke with John. He took the time to explain the difference between organic and all-natural meats. He took the time to listen to my concerns and was very understanding, making me feel comfortable after I expressed my concerns for our son.
    We want to thank John; his staff, Eddie, John and Anthony; and their loyal customers for helping to raise over $400 and their continued support for autism research and awareness. Research is crucial.
