Malverne students collect pennies for patients

Posted

Students at Malverne's Howard T. Herber Middle School collected money for the Pennies for Patients Coin Drive to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Members of the student council organized the drive, placing coin banks in homeroom classes throughout the school. They are determined to break last year's $1,200 record.
To help with their efforts, teachers took to the basketball courts for the Third Annual Charity Faculty Basketball Game. Student council members sold tickets, raffles and cookies. Proceeds from the game will be added to the Pennies for Patients funds.
