Mercy Medical Center to hold emergency blood drive on Sept. 2

With regional supplies depleted to critically low levels due to Hurricane Irene, Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre will be conducting an Emergency Blood Drive to support Long Island Blood Services on Friday, Sept. 2 from 6:45 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the first floor of the St. Anne’s building on the hospital campus.

Anyone between the ages of 17 and 75 who is in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Healthy individuals over 75 can donate blood if they present written permission from their physician obtained within two weeks of their donation.

Donors should have eaten and should bring reading glasses and ID with signature, and know their Social Security number.
