Coding for kids

Children are invited to the Lakeview Public Library for some basic tips about coding on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The classes will feature experts from TecEquity. For children and teens in grades three to eight. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please register in advance for all programs by calling or visiting the library. Gift wrapping at the library

Teenagers are volunteering to wrap holiday gifts this season at the West Hempstead Public Library on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Residents can bring the item (no larger than 15” x 15”) and the library provide wrapping paper, bows and a gift tag. Play and learn with Virtual Reality at the West Hempstead Public Library on Monday, Dec. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants can use the library’s iPads or bring their own device with their Merge Cubes and become immersed in the world of virtual reality. Hunt the habitat for nocturnal neighbors at Old Westbury Gardens, Saturday, Dec. 21, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A wildlife expert from Volunteers for Wildlife will bring live owls and then lead an outdoor search.
