Long Island American Water recently announced the winners of its second annual BE WATER WISE! art contest, which was open to fifth-grade students who attend schools that are served by Long Island American Water and to students who live within the company’s service area. Students at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne were among participants who were encouraged to use their artistic talents in order to express the importance of this year’s theme of “Conserving Water.”

The three winning students were selected based on their understanding of the value of water and their ability to communicate the theme of water conservation through their creative vision and artistic talent.  The first place winner, Claire Burns, earned a $100 American Express gift card and had her work printed on unique-seed filled cards, which, when planted and watered, produce flowers. Second place winner Alexandra Klapak won a $50 American Express gift card and third place winner Christina Louise DeJoseph won a $25 gift card.
