Severe nor'easter pounds Nassau

Driving on the South State near Valley Stream Thursday afternoon was getting more difficult as the wind-blown rain made visibility poor.

An intense nor’easter is making driving dangerous and closing schools and some businesses through the area. Heavy, drenching rain turned to sloppy, wet snow around 3:30 Thursday afternoon as temperatures began to dip below freezing. Then the snow took over in full force, snowing throughout the night. It was still snowing Friday. Many area school districts closed Friday.
