Twelve students will represent the West Hempstead School District in the upcoming 19th annual Art Supervisors Association All-County Art Exhibit.

The Art Supervisors Association is an organization of art supervisors and administrators that promote art instruction at all educational levels. Each year, the organization hosts the prestigious exhibit, showcasing more than 1,200 pieces of artwork produced by kindergarten to 12th grade students from Nassau County school districts.

The 12 West Hempstead participants are: Alexa Rivera, Anasha Abdur-Rahman, Angelina Padilla, Angelo Hughes, Belinda Rodriguez, Dominick Ferguson, Matthew Mariani, Rhiannon Heikkila, Taj Hinds, Vera Hametz, Victoria Armogan, and Vivian Beriguette.

In addition, 11 West Hempstead students will participate in the upcoming Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum exhibit. As the only juried exhibition on Long Island, Long Island’s Best offers high school students the unique opportunity to show their work in a museum.

Each year, students in grades 9-12 are invited to create a work of art inspired by a piece shown in the museum. Hundreds of works of art are submitted from schools across Nassau and Suffolk and about 80 are chosen for display in the exhibition.

The 11 West Hempstead participants are: Maya Flam, Justin Delavandel, Rozlyn Rodriguez, Samantha Mitchell, Amelia Bhairo, Maddie Jeffrey, Nylah Fye, Johanna Fray, Sofia Sheehan, Jaime McDonald, and Vivian O’Gara.
