Across Time & Place: Treasures from the Permanent Collection
This rotating exhibition highlights a broad range of works by 19th and 20th century American and European artists from the Heckscher Museum’s Permanent Collection. Of particular interest is Étienne Berne-Bellecour’s monumental Embarkation Maneuver, 1882, which factually depicts the departure of a regiment of cuirassiers following the Franco-Prussian War. Opportunity and Impact: Works by Emigre Artists
The original exhibition examines the role of émigré artists in reshaping the nature of American art. Sculpture/Dine/Pinocchio
A major exhibit of Jim Dine’s recent sculptural works within the Nassau County Museum of Art galleries and on the grounds. Using the Lessons of the Holocaust to Teach Tolerance
This contextualized history explains the 1930s’ increase of intolerance, the reduction of human rights, and the lack of intervention that enabled the persecution and mass murder of millions of Jews and others, including people with disabilities, Roma and Sinti (Gypsies), Jehovah’s Witnesses, Gays, and Polish intelligentsia. Yonia Fain: Remembrance
A retrospective look at works by acclaimed artist and poet Yonia Fain created between 1959 and the present. Through Fain’s art and poetry, he pays tribute to the memories of those lost during the Holocaust, employing powerful visual imagery and messages that simultaneously relate the Holocaust’s despair and its atrocities while expressing key themes of survival and hope.
