Winter storm warning for our area

National Weather Service predicts significant snowfall, high winds

The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning for our area for late Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon.
Snow is predicted to be heavy at times, with accumulations of six to 12 inches. Locally higher amounts are possible. Winds gusts can hit 25 T0 35 MPH, and visibility will be under a quarter mile at times.
Travel will be hazardous from Tuesday night through the daytime Wednesday. "Ready your shovels and ice melt wait until streets are clear before venturing out," said East Rockaway's acting DPW superintendent Mike Boller. "Do not shovel snow in to the street, and please keep cars off the street until the plows had a chance to thoroughly clear the streets."
