Merrick Force wins East Meadow Soccer Tournament for 2nd straight year

The Merrick Force GU16 team from Merrick PAL Soccer are back-to-back champions of the premiere flight (top flight) in the East Meadow Soccer Tournament. In the seven years that the Force has taken part in this event, the team has won and placed previously, but never in consecutive years.

This year was particularly meaningful, coaches said, because the top flight had two National Premiere League teams (World Class from New Jersey and Yankee United from Connecticut) and one Elite Clubs National League squad (East Meadow), making it a highly competitive pool. Yet the Force prevailed throughout the event, going undefeated.

The girls are now preparing for college showcases and will be competing in the spring in the Region 1 Premiere League, which stretches from Maine to Virginia. You can see them play for Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham high schools this fall.
