N. Merrick F.D. takes on repair project
The North Merrick Fire Department is having two new ramps installed at its firehouse on Camp Avenue. The ramp in front of the building will hold five bays, and the ramp in the back, four. The old concrete ramps were cracking, said North Merrick Fire Chief James Allen. The project is costing $144,500, with the money coming from a referendum that North Merrick voters approved on June 12. The total sum of the referendum was $250,000. The project will take a few weeks to finish, said a spokesperson for the North Merrick Fire District.
