Police investigating North Merrick store robbery
By Julie Mansmann, jmansmann@liherald.com

Nassau County Police officials are investigating a robbery at a North Merrick business last weekend.

The First Squad is still searching for the suspect, who authorities said stole an unknown amount of cash from the register at Fast Break Convenience Store, at 1066 Merrick Ave., on Nov. 24 at 10:55 p.m.

According to detectives, an unknown man entered the shop and asked a 36-year-old male Fast Break employee for a pack of cigarettes. The suspect then displayed a black handgun and demanded money from the register, officials said.

The suspect, who detectives described as a black male, 6-foot-2 and wearing a black wool hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and tan pants, fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
