In preparation for Hurricane Sandy, the New York State Department of Transportation has closed all southbound lanes of the Loop Parkway, from the Meadwobrook Parkway to Lido Beach.

The closure began at 4:09 p.m. and will remain in effect through Oct. 30 at noon, according to DOT officials. For more, check out the state DOT's website at nyalert.gov.
