After Sandy, Merrick Senior Center reopens to a crowd of smiling members

In a joyous ceremony full of smiles, the Merrick Senior Center, at 2550 Clubhouse Road in Merrick, reopened its doors today to several dozen senior citizens from the local community after spending five months shuttered because it was flooded with four feet of water during Hurricane Sandy.

The seniors gathered in the newly rebuilt and refurbished center for a luncheon and ribbon-cutting ceremony, which Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Receiver of Taxes Donald Clavin and reporters from several news organizations also attended.
