At the Merrick Library, trucks that keep the community moving forward

Who doesn’t love trucks?

That was the theme at the Merrick Library’s Touch-A-Truck event last month.

All throughout the Curé of Ars Roman Catholic Church parking lot, the community got to up close and personal with the vehicles that keep the Merrick community, and surrounding towns, moving forward.

Touch-A-Truck events have become immensely popular throughout the nation, as community members of all ages are invited to learn more and interact with vehicles from different organizations and companies.

There was everything from fire trucks to police cars to public works vehicles from the Town of Hempstead. An explorative day for many families and children, there was something for everyone to see, and plenty of people to meet.

Several members of the Merrick Fire Department, local Nassau County Police Department precincts, the New York Islanders and even Town Supervisor Don Clavin stopped by the fun-filled event.
