As the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District wraps up its 2022-23 school year, the board of education recognized four student representatives who offered school points of pride updates and witty banter at monthly meetings.

“Each month you prepare a speech and talk about the awards and accolades around your schools and the reality is that the four of you are exceptional students and have made us very proud,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Harrington.

At the June 7 meeting, Lily Yepez of Wellington C. Mepham, Sophia Tripiccione of Sanford H. Calhoun, Rachel Oppenheim of John F. Kennedy high schools and Jordan Nelson of the Meadowbrook Alternative Program were gifted a commemorative gavel after offering their last update from the board dais.

“I know I will remember this opportunity for the rest of my life,” Nelson noted during his report. “It has given me great pride to be here each month.”
