Birch, Chatterton elementary schools celebrate languages

Posted

Birch and Chatterton elementary schools in the Merrick School District recently celebrated National Foreign Language Week with a poster and literary contest, for which all participating students received certificates. The students’ projects interpreted this year’s theme, “Don’t Let Learning a Language Slip Through Your Fingers!”

The Merrick School District offers Spanish in grades three to six. Jackie Geltman teaches Foreign Language in the Elementary School at both Birch and Chatterton. The Herald Life had earlier featured participants in the Levy-Lakeside Elementary School National Foreign Language Week contest.
