With a snowstorm expected to dump up to 18 inches of snow on Long Island, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano will activate the county’s Non-Emergency Hotline beginning Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Residents can call 1-888-684-4274 for assistance with any snow-related situation that is neither life-threatening nor an emergency, such as downed trees and plowing issues. Emergency calls should be placed to 911.

“The lines of communication in Nassau County are open,” Mangano said. “We want to ensure every resident is safe, and we are made aware of any situation that could create danger in the community.”

The county also planned to make automated calls with a message from Mangano to ensure that every household in the county is aware of the hotline number.

Residents in need of shelter can call the Nassau County Warm Bed Hotline at 1-866-WARM-BED.

“Residents are urged to use caution," Mangano said. "Our county workforce will be working hard to keep the streets safe, and you can help by keeping cars off the road."
