From students to snowmen at Saw Mill Road

Snowmen came to life in Mary Morrissey’s second grade classroom at Saw Mill Road Elementary School in the North Bellmore School District. Students worked together to turn their classmates into living versions of the classic winter symbol.

Working in teams, one student became the mummy snowman, wrapped up in toilet paper by his or her partners. The rest of the group also was responsible for decorating the snowman, using construction paper to make eyes, a nose, mouth, hat and buttons.

Morrissey said that the winter-themed STEAM project promoted teamwork. Each student in a group was assigned a specific task, and the youngsters learned how every role was essential in accomplishing their goal. Several parent volunteers also joined the fun and assisted students.
