Kiwanis Club serves up pancakes for a cause

Posted

Dozens of local residents stopped off at the Calhoun High School cafeteria on Sunday morning for a hearty breakfast of pancakes and sausages with all of the trimmings when the Merrick Kiwanis Club held its annual Pancake Breakfast.

Proceeds from the event go to support Kiwanis Club programs such as Kamp Kiwanis and Clothes for Kids, as well as the Merrick club’s annual school-supply drive at the start of the school year. All three programs benefit children in need.

Members of the Calhoun High School Key Club and the Merrick Avenue Middle School Builders Club served the food, while members of the club, including Nassau County Legislator David Denenberg, did the cooking.
