Man charged with weapons possession on Sunrise Highway in Merrick

Nassau County Police arrested Yobany Calderon, 19, of Westbury on Sunrise Highway and Meadowbrook Parkway in Merrick on Sept. 1 and charged him with criminal possession of stolen property, possession of a dangerous weapon, and three violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Police arrested Rodolfo Rivas, 20, of Hempstead on Sunrise Highway in Merrick and charged him with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police arrested Raymond Vecchione, 23, of Merrick on Sept. 4 at Sunrise Highway and Jones Avenue in Wantagh and charged him with driving while intoxicated and two violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

A Babylon Turnpike home in Merrick was burglarized sometime between 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 22 and 1 p.m. on Aug. 29. The rear kitchen window screen was cut, but nothing was reported stolen.

A Hemlock Street home in Merrick was burglarized sometime between 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 4 and 8 p.m. on Sept. 6. Jewelry, coins, a computer and stereo equipment were reported stolen.

A local resident reported the larceny of sunglasses, a laptop, GPS, iPod, CD player and CDs, as well as assorted sports collectibles and stickers from his unlocked 2010 Mazda sometime between 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 28 on Yale Road in Merrick.
